The purpose of your journal

I Will Bloom is a reflective diary designed to support people emotionally and mentally through ongoing therapy and recovery.


It combines daily writing space, guided prompts, soft illustrations, factual stories, and tear-off kindness notes — helping readers stay calm, hopeful, and connected.
Created with love and empathy, I Will Bloom is part of the Bloom Anyway collection: a series of gentle tools for courage, calm and healing.

What is in your journal

Day per page

A practical element of the journal to track your journey.

  • At the start of each month you will find a calendar-style overview where you can mark treatment days, major appointments, big milestones (e.g., scans, doctor visits)

  • Space for monthly intentions: “What I hope this month will bring”, “Things I’m grateful for”​​

 Surprises 

Being armed with some of the mental and emotional surprises that may hit you along the way, we hope will help some of our readers.  We offer some potential coping strategies that you can take in or tailor, or at least be aware of.

How You Can Help Me

We have added a  "tear-off strip" section to the journal.  To give you ready-made, tactful ways to tell friends what kind of help is actually useful and welcome — physical, emotional, or social — without feeling awkward asking.  Some of the suggestions are:

  • Water my plants once a week

  • Add motivational songs to my playlist.

  • Share funny, positive stories

  • Remind me to rest

  • Keep my space filled with calm

Pages to doodle or colour

Scattered throughout the journal are pages for those days when somethings are just too much effort.  A blank space for where ever your pen takes you.

 

This gives readers both regular opportunities to draw and a quiet section to fill however they wish — poetry, doodles, collage, journaling, etc.

Even during this challenging time, life still goes on.

 

I Will Bloom offers some suggestions to help you manage the practical side of life during your treatment, in the form of finances, and life admin.

 

These pages help you organise your mind gently, without pressure or overwhelm.

When you are going through chemo or radio therapy, so many victories go unnoticed because they seem “too small.”
But these are real milestones, worthy of recognition, pride, and celebration.

At the end of each week, you will see a short story, long enough to be interesting, but not too long to be taxing.  The stories fall into one of the following topics:

Reminding you, that there is still plenty to learn about in our glorious world.​

The end of the journal

We close the journal resognising that it may not be the end of your journey.

These pages have held your thoughts, your worries, your small victories, and your harder days. Whatever comes next — continued treatment, recovery, rest, or a new chapter — you don’t leave this journal behind. You carry what you’ve learned forward with you.

Life after your journal

This journal is powerful and something you will want to keep.  It is a useful tool for you, your loved ones, your doctors, and you in a years time and beyond.

The mind,

is your most powerful ally in recovery

This isn’t a medical diary. It doesn’t track treatments or test results.  It’s here for your mind — to help you keep your calm, your courage, and your sense of self while your body does the hard work of healing.

You’ll hear it often: “The most important tool in recovery is your mind.”
Here, that truth takes form on paper.
